Good News to share: BK21 Plus supported from September 2013.
We made a team, Glocal Geoenvironmental Engineering Team, composed of 3 professors (Hyeongju Kim, Kangju Kim, and Dookie Kim) in civil & environmental engineering.
Much of the preparation was done by the guidance of Prof. Jeongyun Do and our SSL members since our SSL is a leader of the team.
The government announced the beneficiaries of a new stage of BK21, BK21 Plus on August 15, 2013.
Good news! We will be supported from BK21 Plus from September 2013 for 7 years.
Caution! They also mentioned the re-evaluation of the beneficiaries in 2015 to cut the incompetent beneficiaries out.
Unfortunately only 1 team among 4 teams from KNU took an opportunity according to the announcement.

7년간 총 24억 800만 원의 장학금, 국제교류비, 신진연구인력지원비 등 지원 받아

군산대학교(총장 채정룡) 토목환경공학부의 글로컬 지반환경공학 연구팀(팀장 김두기 교수)이 BK21 플러스 사업에 최종 선정됐다.
군산대는 BK21 플러스 사업 선정을 통해 7년간 총 24억 800만 원의 장학금과 국제교류비, 신진연구인력지원비 등을 지원받게 된다.
군산대 토목환경공학부는 지난 2006년에도 지반환경 통합관리 핵심인력 양성사업팀이 두뇌한국(BK)21 사업에 선정된 데 이어 올해 연속 BK21 플러스 사업에 선정되면서 지반환경 분야 최고의 실력을 인정받고 있다.
군산대 관계자는 "지반공학 분야와 지반과 관련된 환경공학 분야를 융합·체계화해 지역과 글로벌마인드를 동시에 갖춘 세계적 수준의 지반환경공학 전문인력을 양성할 예정"이라고 밝혔다.
BK21 플러스사업은 대학원 교육의 활성화와 연구 경쟁력 강화를 위해 창조경제를 주도할 석·박사 급 인재를 지원하는 사업이며, 올해부터 2019년까지 7년간 진행된다.
